Dr. Brett Phillips will be giving a lecture on detoxification at lululemon Kelowna on December 1st. Detoxification is a vital part of all life systems. You can live for weeks without food and days without water but how long and well can you live without removing toxins from your system? How many hours can you go without making a trip to the washroom? How many minutes can you make it without exhaling the carbon dioxide building up in your body? Thinking about these questions helps to highlight the importance of detoxification.

Celiac Disease and the Immune System - Kelowna Celiac Association

November 14th, 1:00pm @ the Winfield Seniors Center

Dr. Barlow will be speaking about celiac disease and the immune system on Sunday November 14th at the Winfield Seniors Center at 1:00pm. He has been invited to speak on this topic by the Kelowna Celiac Association who will also have a gluten-free pot luck lunch prior to the talk at 12:00pm. This event is open to the public and all are welcome to bring a gluten-free dish.

 

Dr. Barlow will discuss the impact of celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, and wheat sensitivity on overall health and specifically on the immune system. He will explain why gastrointestinal conditions weaken the immune system and often contribute to chronic illness, infections, and fatigue. Dr. Barlow will discuss the controversial diagnostic criteria and the conventional treatments. Finally, Dr. Barlow will highlight the natural treatments available to restore gastrointestinal health and boost the immune system. These treatments include intravenous nutrient infusions, oral supplementation, neural therapy, acupuncture, and dietary modification.

Ask The Doctor - September 27th, 2010

Dr. Barlow will be available to answer questions at Natural Rezources in downtown Kelowna from 11am to 2pm on Monday September 27th. This is a great chance to meet with Dr. Barlow, ask some health related questions, and learn more about the treatments offered at Okanagan Naturopathic Healthcare.

Natural Rezources is located at 525 Bernard Ave in downtown Kelowna. No appointments are necessary as this is a first come first serve event.

Dr. Barlow will be speaking at the Orchard Plaza Running Room in Kelowna on Monday September 20th at 6:30pm. He will discuss the use of prolotherapy to treat various types of chronic and acute pain. Flu Season in the Okanagan - What can be done naturally?

It is nearing the end of February and the ‘Flu’ has officially made its presence known in the Okanagan.
During the flu season people are home sick grappling with fever, chills, body aches, vomiting, diarrhea and fatigue. As the flu is the result of a viral infection, antibiotics will not help as they are only effectiven against bacterial infection. Therefore, the usual medical advice is to stay home, get rest and drink plenty of fluids. This is good advice, but there is more that can be done to reduce the duration and severity of symptoms of an active infection. Read more for a couple effective suggestions.
