Specific Interests of Dr. Phillips

Within the context of my general family practice, I have a specific interest in assessing and treating pain conditions. I find that people’s pain is a huge barrier preventing them from being able to live the quality of life they would like to, both physically and mentally. I have the education, tools and skills to help many people resolve their ailments and live pain free. I find it extremely rewarding when my chronic pain patients tell me how they are able to participate in extracurricular activities they thought they would never be able to do again. To treat pain conditions I use therapies such as prolotherapy, neural therapy, acupuncture, spinal manipulations and clinical nutrition.

Little Life History

I was born in a small community in Saskatchewan and was brought up in a home that believed we are here to help one another. From a young age my parents instilled in me the values and morals that are the foundation of my life and now my practice: honesty, trust, respect and empathy for others. I know have my own young family which inspires and encourages me to live everyday to its fullest.

Education

In my teenage years my family moved to the breathtaking landscape and serene nature of the Okanagan Valley. After high school, I obtained my Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of British Columbia-Okanagan (UBCO, formally OUC) where I developed my analytical, research-based thinking. I then enrolled in the Bachelor of Education program at UBCO where I came to recognize the importance of clarity and guidance that some individuals need. My continuing desire to help others led me to study and successfully complete my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in Vancouver. There I learned both the science and art of medicine. I now continue to acquire post-doctoral education on an on-going basis through various programs, associations and academies that I am actively involved in. My ability to practice Naturopathic Medicine allows me to fulfill my passion and life purpose—Helping others.

My Commitment to You

I am committed to helping each and every patient to recognize their obstacles to good health, and will act as a guide on their journey to optimal health and healing. This will be achieved through listening empathetically to each patient’s health concerns and performing the necessary assessments; and with authentic concern, devising and individualizing a treatment plan that will target you as a whole person—body, mind and spirit. The specific healing and/or preventative program will aim to maximize your vitality and increase quality of life.

As your doctor, I will work to create an honest, open environment where I will listen without judgment and work to build a trust between us. This trust will allow a safe atmosphere for sharing freely and will enable me to get a clear understanding of your health needs to create the optimal environment for your healing.

As a primary healthcare physician in my practice, I see patients of all ages, with various conditions and backgrounds from the Okanagan, British Columbia, Canada, and other countries. I view each patient relationship as an opportunity to make a significant difference not only in the patient’s life but in the lives of the people around them, their communities and all of humanity.

If you would like to begin your healing journey or quest for optimal health, I would be pleased to be your guide. I will do everything within my ability to aid you in your journey down the road of life.
